I discovered Bad Girls after a friend told me about it. She said I had to watch this show as there was a great lesbian couple in it, and that throughout the show's run there were various other lesbian couples who come in and out of Larkhall.

I don't always jump at the chance to watch every lesbian character that appears on television. When I do I often end up disappointed or frustrated by the way lesbians are portrayed. Or the show or episode leaves me needing much more than the creators were able or willing to produce. So I've learned to be judicious with my TV viewing time.

But three things compelled me to check out Bad Girls: 1) a dear friend, whom I know to have good taste in programming, recommended it to me (cheers Laura!); 2) BG was airing on BBC America, a channel I watch frequently (the anglophile that I am), so I had easy access to the show; and 3) I'll watch most anything that has lots of pretty, interesting women with accents! (esp. British)

My BG obsession started out with a bang. Episode 10 of series 1 - Love Hurts - was my first glimpse onto G-Wing. As this was the final episode of the inaugural series, I didn't have a handle on all the characters and storylines. However, I was hooked by the time the ending credits rolled around, primarily because the writing was so good. And it was character driven, with a variety of fully fleshed out and fascinating personalities coming together in believable relationships - both friend and foe. Also the performances were stellar! What an outstanding ensemble of actors. The show is thoroughly entertaining.
